Fireside 80” Wide – Christmas Green

Fireside is a wonderful, cozy quilt backing which comes in a wide range of colours. Previously only available in 60″ wide, the manufacturers have now brought some neutrals in 80″ wide, and the hope is that they will increase the range of colours in that width. It does not have the “slippery” feel that some cozy backings have. The quilting texture is really accentuated on the back of your quilt with this lovely backing, but I do recommend using a thin batting for the best results. It washes beautifully, and does not “pill”, so is very suitable for those family quilts which will be “loved” by kids of all ages, on the floor, in the yard, under the dog, etc! When longarm quilting my only additional advice would be to make sure you do not stretch it too tightly on your frame, as there is some stretch widthwise in the fabric and it will immediately shrink back when taken off the frame. Otherwise quilting this fabric is no problem at all!
